Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the results. We do not retain or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept long enough to review it and respond. We keep the message within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive certain technical details when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view times and the pages visited
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- The device's assigned IP address
- Time spent on individual pages
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search query to the selected partner
- Diagnosing and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which material visitors use
- Operating, maintaining, and improving site performance
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Marathon County Court Docket neither hosts nor sells a database of court cases or personal court information. It provides directions to WCCA, Wisconsin courts, municipal clerks, and the Marathon County Clerk of Courts. We do not turn visitor information into consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies supply the search tools shown here. Their own privacy terms govern information entered into those tools. Each partner controls its retention and disclosure practices, so review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Throughout the site we link to clerk of court pages, trial court portals, statewide case-search systems, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Clicking any of those links takes you off our site. At that point, their privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before sharing any personal details.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We follow standard security practices to safeguard the data we collect. But nothing connected to the internet is bulletproof. We do what we can to keep your information secure, though we cannot promise a breach will never happen.
Users Under 18
This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly gather personal information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor has shared data with us, reach out and we'll delete it right away.
Your Data Rights
Available rights depend on the law that applies to the visitor. The Wisconsin Public Records Law, including Wis. Stat. § 19.35, concerns access to qualifying records held by public authorities. It does not govern this private site's visitor analytics. At a minimum, you may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised from time to time. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
